I had met with my OB here just a couple days before, and he had told us to plan on an extended hospital stay at some point. I didn't expect to be in the hospital just 2 days later!
7/11/14 - Friday
23w5d back to the hospital I go at 7am.
They started an IV on me, but luckily, I never needed fluids. They watched my blood levels closely, and monitored Sara's heart and my contractions. My nurse helped me make some goals:
1 - Stay pregnant
2 - Go home
I didn't know how long they were going to keep me there, if it was going to be just a few hours, or if I was going to be there for the long haul. It's definitely hard to wrap my head around being here for months. Can't imagine what that will be like.
The doctor finally came in and discussed the plan. He said that they communicate within their OB group and with specialists to make sure everyone is on the same page. He really helped me feel confident in the care I was getting. He told me to plan to be there the rest of pregnancy, and then he said we'd meet with perinatology after the weekend to do ultrasounds and see what's up, and that they would actually call the shots as far as if I'll be able to go home, or if I need to stay at the hospital.
So, I was officially admitted. It was weird to be down here with Reid up in Wyoming and not with me. Thankfully, my lovely mother was able to be there with me.
They gave me a couple shots to help Sara's lungs if she ends up needing to be delivered early.
It was fun to have some visitors! My college roommate Catherine & her husband, Jeff, came. It was so great to see them. They hooked me up with some movies, and some treats. :)
My Dad stayed the night with me that first night. What a great dad!
The food has been excellent here. Seriously. It tastes like restaurant food, not hospital food. I've had a fun time with the room service menu. :D
I have a great view. There are 4 big windows like this along the wall. I'm anxious to meet with the perinatologist and see how Sara's doing, and what is up with my placenta.
