My Whole World, Haircuts, Funky Pants

Bear with me as I try to find my blogging groove again.  :)  I'm trying to remember to update once a week.  Some updates will be repeat pics from Instagram,  and others won't have pics at all.

My whole world all smushed together on one chair.  I walked into the room to this and just melted.  I felt such overwhelming joy and gratitude at this moment.  I love these 5 boys more than I could ever express.

Connor cheesing after his haircut.  I know this pic is blurry, but I just love it.  He has a hard time holding still for a picture!  He still has awesome curls and wave in his hair.  It's hard to let it go, but he looks super handsome with it cut, and luckily he still gets some fun curl in the front.

Clark mid-haircut.  The boys always try to talk me into giving them legit mohawks.  Maybe I'll let them sport them for a couple days when they get their summer buzz cuts...maybe.

I finally bought a barber cape.  I've been meaning to for years!  I also got some texturizing shears (thanks to advice from my old pal Lisa Buchanan).  It made the boys haircuts blend so much better.

I haven't mustered the courage to take on Rhett's hair yet.  Poor kid looks like a rag-a-muffin most of the time, but it can be cute if it's freshly washed and combed.  Last time I cut his hair he just screamed and put his hands up on his head.  Reid had to help me by holding them down while I just did it the fastest I could.  It's hard to watch my baby so sad, especially when he looks at me like I'm just awful for inflicting such torment.  So...I've put his off.

A pic of me and the little dude.

I don't ever get tired of the sunsets/sunrises here.  Our big windows face West & East so we get some great views.  I usually notice it while I'm in the kitchen making dinner.  The reds were even deeper in real life.

Awesome.

Clark has been taking piano lessons for the past few months.  It's been awesome.  I've been impressed with how naturally it comes to him.  He has excellent rhythm.  Makes my musician heart proud. (That's something my mom would say. Ha. Love you Mom!).  He had his very first recital on Thursday night.  His teacher told them they could wear dressy Sunday clothes, or dress up from any time period.  He really wanted to wear a costume, so we came up with the following 70's get-up from my closet.  Had to pin the pants, but I thought he looked pretty hip.

(Rhett was ducking out of the way of Clark's funky dance moves.  I love the look on his face!)

Jack has been taking Taekwondo for the past few months with his buddy, Ryer.  It's been great for him to have something that is his own.  He really enjoys it, and luckily has not used his moves against his brothers. I have a picture somewhere...

Connor, Rhett, and I made a trip to Lovell (just 10 min away) on Monday.  We ran a bunch of random errands.  We closed our Lovell PO Box (from when we first moved here and didn't know which town we'd end up in).  We returned our cable TV equipment to the cable provider since we are ditching cable and just going with the online services for TV now.  I got sucked into the fabulous world of the DVR.  It was hard to say goodbye, but I realized that I was the only one in the house using it.  Not worth the $ for just my entertainment.  We stopped at the Red Apple (grocery store) to tide us over until our next Costco trip, and filled up on gas at Maverik.  I also tried to treat myself to some yumminess from Mama's Bakery, but for some reason the doors were locked, even though it was during their regular hours.  I decided it was a sign that I need to back off the treats.  Instead, we ate bananas and Pringles for lunch on the way home.

On Tuesday we got together at the church for a playgroup.  We have been slow getting back into the social scene since the holidays.  It was great to see everyone again, and remember that we do have friends.  Ha.  It's usually a mix of moms from both wards that come.  There are a lot of little boys.  Imagine that!  Seems to always be the case in my social circles.  I brought a bunch of big toy trucks and, needless to say, they were a hit.

Wednesdays is cub scouts.  I'm the Wolf Den Leader for our ward (8 yr olds), so Clark and I got to start out cub scouts together.  I will be bummed when he turns 9 and moves on from our den in May.  My other 3 boys have been tagging along, which makes it extra crazy.  I usually come home totally exhausted, but it's rewarding to see the cub scouts progress and gain confidence as they learn.

Thursday night after the recital, I met a few friends at Kimberley's house for some much needed girl time (and less needed yummy food).  It was great.  These girls are stellar.

The boys didn't have school on Friday, so we went with some friends to the Powell Aquatic Center.  There is a mini lazy river, lily pad rope-walk thing, a large wading area with a little slide for toddlers, and fountains.  It was so fun!  I had forgotten how much we all love swimming.  We practically lived at the Cowley pool last summer.  I'm excited for those days to come again, but in the mean time I think we'll head over to Powell more often!
