Foxes and Mood Swings

I saw a fox prancing around playfully in a field just outside of town.  It was so cool!  Never seen one in the wild before.  Hope it doesn't kill anyone's pets.
I was in a rotten mood Thursday morning and everything Connor or Rhett did just drove me crazy!  So, I did what I used to do in Hillsboro.  I loaded them up in the van, turned on a movie in back, blasted my music up front, and started driving.  I didn't know where I was going to go.  I would have liked to go out to Cody (an hour away), but in order to get back in time for Connor to go to preschool I settled on driving to Powell (30 min).  We went through the drive-thru at McDonald's.  The boys were happy as clams. We stopped and got a significantly overdue oil change, while the boys happily ate their food, then I ran into the hardware store and grabbed a furnace air filter and some mouse traps.  (Reid thought he saw one the other night).
After our little trip I felt productive and we were all in better moods.  :)
No worries, I woke up in a fantastic mood on Friday.  It felt good. The boys had half day school so I put them to work and got the basement all nice and clean.  I'm the nicest mom!  I love that they set up their music to play while they work just like I do.  It seems to keep them on task for the most part, until Ice Ice Baby comes on.  Then it's a dance party of course! No one can resist.
I went to a Crossfit class for the first time.  They started one here in Cowley.  It was a great workout.  It brought back excellent memories of teaching Bootcamp in Oregon.  Dunno if I'll keep going or not, though.  I'm kind of a cheapskate and don't like paying to exercise if I can help it.  We shall see.  I have still been doing strength training with a few ladies on Tues/Thurs mornings at 5:30am.  I gave up on running once it got into the 20's and super dark in the morning.  I'm a wimp.  Brrr.
Connor threw up Friday evening.  He was really sick until he went to sleep.  I thought for sure the rest of us would get it and I'd be up all night with someone.  Luckily,  we have been fine so far, and Connor was back to himself by morning.
We did a little more cleaning on Saturday and then relaxed a bit.  Later on, Reid and I got to go out for date.  We ended up at a Mexican restaurant in Powell.  It wasn't amazing, but satisfied my craving for mediocre Mexican food.  It was exactly what I was looking for.  I've been experiencing restaurant withdrawals out here in small town USA.  Haha.  I miss Ochoas tacos and E'San Thai food the most right now.  We got a redbox movie to watch at home and stopped for ice cream to make sure the kids would actually be in bed by the time we got home.  I'm so glad we've made dating a priority in our marriage.  It's always so refreshing.
Today was an interesting day.  We went to church and the talks were excellent. We were sitting right up front.  Connor fell asleep while I was holding him.  Clark and Jack were behaving (probably because they were separated) and Rhett was totally digging time with Daddy and being really mellow, so I actually got to listen.  It was heaven.  Reid and I got to sit together and enjoy Sunday School the second hour.  I was enjoying the third hour lesson with the ladies of the ward in Relief Society when a nursery leader came and got me out of class.  Rhett had been choking on his snack. They were able to get him to cough it up,  but he was really upset and shaking afterward; it must have scared him.  They came and got me to comfort him.  It was a little scary to think he was choking while I wasn't with him.  I do love, though, that I am the one who can comfort my children the best.  I sure love being a mother.
We had the missionaries over for dinner tonight. It was one of those times where nothing seemed to go right.  The main dish didn't quite turn out as well as I had hoped, and the Jell-O didn't set (I've never had that happen! )  The boys were extra crazy.  They tend to act a lot more silly when we have people over and that was definitely the case tonight.  I was terribly embarrassed by their behavior.  The missionaries were trying to show us a short video and share a heartfelt message, but the boys were not being respectful.  So after the missionaries left,  the boys did the dishes and got an early bedtime.  It was good for all of us.
I'm so stoked for Imagine Dragons winning a Grammy.  It's insane how far and fast they've come since we first saw them live in May 2012.  I had talked Reid and some friends to go see them in a teeny tiny venue in Portland as an opening band for $10/ticket.  I had heard of them from the Provo, UT music scene and had a few of their songs.  They blew us all away that night and made us Super fans.  They just put on an amazing live show.  We've seen them and met them a couple times since and they are really genuine and kind. I like to see those kind of artists succeed.
I'm not usually an R&B kinda girl, but I've been on an Alicia Keys (Elements of Freedom) kick while getting stuff done around the house.  I dig her NYC accent and am jealous of her piano skills.  Her voice isn't bad either.  ;)
Been thinking a lot about a few friends going through rough times for different reasons.  My heart aches for their heartache.  I just pray that they will find the peace and comfort they need.
Reid and I are trying to decide where to go for a trip sans kids.  We were originally going to go last year for our 10 yr anniversary, but then the job change and move to Wyoming kinda took precedence. So, got any suggestions for us?  What have been your favorite trips (under $5,000)?

  1. I am seriously loving these great peeks into your daily life!! You guys are such a fabulous family and I just can't help thinking back to when we were all starting out with 1-2 little kids in apartments...goes by fast!
I hope you guys can go somewhere fun for a get-a-way! A cruise is always an option and definitely under $5000.

  3. ha! totally dig the 'hop in the van to get rid of the crazies' move! usually mine happens in the late afternoon and I find myself driving through mcdonalds for a large diet coke, no ice, for a $1. man, I wish we could go to another concert together, laugh about throwing our underwear up on stage, and take pictures with the band afterwards. So much fun. Thanks for the many sweet texts-love and miss you!
