Chore Chart
Hello mothers out there.
I have had the intention of doing a chore chart/reward system with my boys for quite a while now. I am finally ready to get something going. I'm looking for ideas.
What do you do with your kids?
Please share.
Thank you.
From the bottom of my mother-of-three-boys heart,

This summer I printed out chore charts for each of the kids and put them in sheet protectors. They could use a dry erase marker on it and then I get to wipe it off at the end of the week. If they do all of their chores for the week, I think I took them to get an ice cream or something equally cold... you know, what every 9 month pregnant lady likes. :) If you want I can email you the chore charts I used, they were really cute.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a chart yet but I Probably should. The jobs Abby does are helping load and unload the washer/dryer. She can fold wash clothes and towels. She takes a disinfecting wipe and wipes all the lights and door knobs. She uses the dust buster to "vacuum".
ReplyDeletegood luck!
i would love to say i have these great ideas, but instead i'll just watch what you come up with and try that:)
ReplyDeletei suggest....a loudspeaker to tell them what needs cleaned, a dishrag for connor's tummy while he scoots around your kitchen floor, white gloves to inspect their work when they're done, and a nice big comfy chair and chocolates for you while they work.
ReplyDeleteyes, you should go for it. it definitely will be more fun for you than anything else! :)
I tried taking pictures of them doing the chore/activity, laminated them and put velcro on the back. I also laminated a [file folder or something similar-cardstock would work] and had two sides. one side was 'chores to do' the other was 'finished chores' so they could move their little pictures from one side to the other when they finished. It was a lot of fun and was especially perfect before Grant started reading. Sorry if none of tha tmade any sense :)
ReplyDeleteI made responsibility charts (in Excel) for each child. Each day they have a square for: make bed, read scriptures, practice violin/cello, do homework, clean room, and chores. They mark off when each thing is done. I rotate the chores between the kids. Sometimes I give two kids the same chore on the same day (they like working together) and make them age-appropriate. These chores include: clear bathroom counters, clean closet & room, empty trash cans, make lunches (for school girls Sunday night), and wash windows.
ReplyDeleteThe kids are expected to do the daily chores of setting and clearing the table, emptying the dishwasher, folding and putting away towels, putting away their own clothes, sorting socks, etc.
At the end of each week they get a reward. The reward varies, but they usually choose a treat of some kind.
I hope that helps. I'd love to hear/see what you come up with. :)
Hey Kristen,
ReplyDeleteI use myjobchart.com for my kids (free). It just takes a little time to set up and then you can print off chore charts for each kid. Each job has points assigned, so as they are done, the kids rack up their points. At the end of the week, these points can either be converted to $$ or some other reward like "an ice cream cone" or "go to the movies with Mom/Dad", etc.
