Recently, the topic of Introversion vs. Extroversion has come up in a few different conversations I've had. It is no secret that I am an extrovert. If you know Reid, you would not be surprised that he is an introvert. We are both comfortable with these titles, because it explains why we do the things we do. Now, I know there are different levels of introversion & extroversion, so you may not be one or the other.
Last year Reid found an awesome, and humorous article regarding this topic. Give it a read!
The article is titled "Caring for Your Introvert", by Jonathan Rauch, who is a self-proclaimed introvert. Click here to read it. He also did a follow-up interview that you can read here.
I find this stuff fascinating. Reading about it has helped me to understand the introverts in my life a little bit better, and also realize some things about myself as an extrovert. :) Let me know what you think of this article, who of you are introverts yourselves, or anything you've learned about extroversion vs. introversion.

hehehe, that was a funny article. I think mostly I am an extrovert, although I do have streaks of introversion... which Jake and I just decided it is healthy to have those streaks. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm a natural introvert, and a wanna be extrovert. You my dear are a fabulous extrovert with qualities such as friendliness and super likeability.
ReplyDeleteThat is funny. You totally are an extrovert!! Sometimes I wish I had an introvert for a husband... things might be a little more quiet around here! ;) I'm glad there are lots of different personalities to enjoy!!
ReplyDeleteI LOVED these articles! Very eye opening and informative! Well written and easy to understand the introverts perspective. I have to think for a bit to formulate a definate opinion. But I think overall, each "orientation" has its strenghths and weaknesses. Maybe BOTH sides have things to work on to sort of meet in the middle. I think it would be sad if anyone said "this is how I am"...and didn't work on making it more comfortable for the other side. :) But then again, I am kind of an extrovert...so according to the author, I might just be spewing at the mouth! Maybe I'll change my mind tomorrow! :) hehe! Thanks for the deep thoughts!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comments so far. I agree with you Coordination Queen & ThePainterFamily, that both sides need to work to find some common ground. That's what Reid and I have tried to do through our marriage. I try not to make him go to ALL the events, and he willingly compromises and goes to some. He also is wonderful and supports me when I want to go out with my friends, because he knows I need that social interaction to "energize" me. :) Give and take is what it's all about. I think this article did a good job at addressing the misconceptions about introversion. That it's not equal to shyness, or being antisocial.
ReplyDeleteI am an introvert. definitely. but i try and work on my extrovert side... :)
ReplyDeleteYES!!! I love it! I will definetely have Dallas read it too. HA!
ReplyDeleteHey...can I get your email so that I can add you to my blog? Either email me or send me another comment; cristinanaylor@hotmail.com. Thanks
