I did it!

So, as some of you know, I started going to the gym 2.5 weeks ago with my friend Kristy. I had not done any regular exercising since my good ol' tennis days in college. I have wanted to do "something" for quite awhile now, but have not been motivated enough to do anything more than go on walks w/ the stroller....more like strolling with the stroller. I thought I didn't have time for it with 2 little ones to take care of. FINALLY, Kristy was sent from heaven and posed the idea of going to the gym together. She is exactly what I needed to motivate me. We decided the time that would work best is 5:45AM (to get back before Reid goes to work). Yikes. I know. This is incredibly early. I didn't think it was possible. BUT...it is going wonderful, and I just want to share because it makes me so happy. Ok? ok.

The first day we hit the tredmills and I could barely run a mile - I was huffing and puffing, had sideaches, hip aches, leg aches, foot aches, etc. Wow...I am out of shape. I remember telling Kristy about my in-shape days when I would run 3 miles regularly, and how I couldn't imagine running that far now.

Over the past 2 weeks I have slowly increased the distance I run, and today I DID IT! I ran 3 miles!! It's incredible how the body works.

The BEST part is that it makes me feel SO good. I love it! It's something I'm doing just for me. I have been surprised that I actually have more energy when I get home to take care of my family, rather than the opposite.

So, for any of you who have been wanting to do "something"...in the words of Nike "Just Do It!" I would be happy to start a fitness blog of some sort where we can all share what we are doing for exercise - to help keep each other motivated. Lemme know if you want in.

  1. Way to go Kristen! Your words are inspiring. I'm determined to lose my baby weight, plus some to get back to my weight when I got married. Walks with the stroller help, but I guess they're probably not enough. Congrats! Thanks for sharing!
