I've reached the eternal age. You never get older than 29.
At least my mom didn't. :)
I had a fabulous birthday. My mom & youngest brother, Patrick, came to visit! I got to spend the whole day with them and my little family. It was the best birthday to date.
We picked Mom & Patrick up early at the airport, then headed to the Portland Saturday Market on the Waterfront. I loved witnessing the diversity of people there, the creativity exuding from the artist shops, and the aroma of delicious food filling the air.
[loved this shop that had all kinds of funky trinkets]
We got the most delicious gyros from a Greek food cart for lunch. The line was crazy long, so we knew it must be worth the wait. Oh man, I must have another one...
Connor ate warm pita bread, Clark had a slice of pepperoni pizza, and Jack ate a whole big hot dog.
These kids were loving life. We listened to live music while we ate our food and people-watched near the water fountains. We saw a boy with a pet ferret on a leash, and a man with a big green parrot on his shoulder. We saw every kind of dog you could imagine. We saw hippies, old couples, young couples, preppy college kids, and families. The boys got crazy balloon hats & swords from the balloon man and couldn't be happier. Watching them skip down the street back to the car with grins from ear-to-ear was truly bliss as a mother.
[don't I look like a happy girl?]
Later we went to VooDoo Doughnut. The line was crazy long at the 3rd Ave. location, so we followed the advice of a toothless street sweeper and checked out the NE Davis location. There was still a line, but at least we could all fit inside at one time. :) The gal at the cash register was as "all natural" as they come with no bra, no makeup, and no armpit shaving. The doughnuts there aren't "ohmygoshtheseareamazing", but they are definitely unique. I got a yummy chocolate/peanut butter/Oreo doughnut, and Reid got the raspberry filled VooDoo guy.
[love Jack's face in the corner]
Did I mention it was a good day?
