When I bought this blue shirt online I didn't think anything of it. It arrived. I pulled it out of the package.
It's a Julie Flinders original! (minus the silver glittered monogram) It's a stretchy material that totally reminded me of the greatness that was Julie Flinders in all her "waiting for Elder Wally Kestler" glory.
I was one of those lucky mormon kids that grew up watching Saturday's Warrior over and over and over again (yes, I know the show is far from being doctrinally sound, but very entertaining nonetheless). Megan and I used to act it out in our living room, each choosing the characters we were going to "be" for the duration of the show. Who am I kidding, I was the bossy oldest child and chose the prettiest girls with the best vocals, and the coolest guys, and left the others for Megan. We even performed the dances along with the dancers.
Seriously. It was awesome.

That is too funny. Saturday's Warrior is a classic, although an embarrassment to Mormon culture:)
ReplyDeleteThat is hilarious Kristen! I loved that movie too, but I don't think my brothers would have acted it out with me. :)
ReplyDeleteI never actually watched the movie, but our stake did the play when I was in 3rd or 4th grade and I was in it, as a dancer. HAHAHA!
ReplyDeletehaha! YOU'RE awesome! I didn't see that movie until...ummm maybe college or something. I guess that's the catch when growing up outside of Utah with parents who were both converts...missed a lot of the "culture" stuff! heeh! I remember the first time I went to Utah and saw a Deseret bookstore. I was like, "WHAT! they make stickers and pencils that say LDS on them!?" ...bought every single one. ha. (did I mention I was 15?)
ReplyDeleteyou look hot kristen! i remember picking who i was going to be in a movie when it started and doing all the same things you did. Pick the cutest girl who ends up with the cutest guy. While my younger sibs were left with people like ursula. I thought it was quite fair... :)
ReplyDeleteI don't remember this... pretty sure you were just singing and dancing by yourself. I was reading scriptures and writing in my journal every Sunday. Mom would say, "thank you for being such a righteous little girl, you're a great example to your older sister. Just like Nephi." Oh wait, that's what I overheard Mom saying to Rachel. I was always stinky Alice while you got to be Pam and Julie. And my boyfriend was always Elder Green, who, now that I think about it looked more like 35 than 19.
ReplyDeleteoh yeah, and I love the shirt by the way. Total Julie Flinders Original.
ReplyDeleteThat's so funny you have a Julie Flinders original. I really don't know how many times I watched that movie growing up. I loved it!
ReplyDeleteI hear ya. I wanted to be the bright Pam who had the hot (or at least I thought so when I was 7) twin brother. We even played the songs on the piano and sang them at the top of our lungs. ~lol~ Super cute shirt. you look fabulous
ReplyDeleteI can honestly say I have never seen Saturdays Warrior so your post just confuses me.
